About St. Mary's University

St. Mary's University is a Catholic and Marianist liberal arts university located northwest of downtown San Antonio, which is Texas state's 2nd largest city and USA's 7th largest one, having a population estimated at a number of more than 1 million inhabitants. San Antonio is the seat of Bexar County and the center of Tejano culture and Texas tourism.

St. Mary's was established in 1852, by the Society of Mary (Marianists), and is the oldest Catholic university in the state and the Southwest, being a nationally recognized master's level school, ranked among the top colleges in the West for best value and academic reputation, by U.S. News and World Report.

Athletics
